This week we had a special delivery from Royal Gold, a local coco soil company based right here in Humboldt County. Royal Gold donated 30 bags of soil for our school garden. It's the perfect time of year to replenish our garden beds for our next planting. Thank you Royal Gold!!

Last week the Eureka Walmart generously donated several boxes of school supplies to Arcata Elementary. AES parent, Josh Kinyon, helped deliver the much appreciated supplies. Thank you, Walmart and Josh!

On Friday, Mrs. Hurst's second grade class took to the streets with Melanie Williams from BikesThere.com to practice pedestrian safety. This safety course is part of our Safe Routes to School grant. Don't forget our Walk and Bike to School Day on Wednesday, October 10!

Let's here it for our amazing District Office Staff! The Fab Five work hard to not only support our schools but they also support the charter schools within our district. Thank you for all that you do!

The yard duty staff was out and about in their new safety vests. The vivid color makes the adults more visible on the playground, making it easier for students to find an adult when they need help.

Tryouts for the 4th and 5th grade girls basketball team will be held at AES with Coach Rudy on October 9th and 10th, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.

Our K-Kids representatives met at Arcata City Hall to receive an International Walk to School Proclamation. Join us on October 10th at Murphy's on Alliance!

The Humboldt-Del Norte Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is hosting a parent night at their office on Monday, October 8 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. This is a fabulous opportunity for parents with a child who has an Individual Education Plans (IEP) to learn more about the process.

Our TK class was looking fabulous at the pumpkin patch in their custom tie-dye t-shirts. It was another terrific year that the Northcoast Co-op Pumpkin Patch!

On Saturday, September 29th AES student, Tyler, participated in Cubing in the Redwoods at Eureka High. This event is Humboldt County's first speedcubing competition. Competitors raced the clock in a variety of events featuring Rubik's Cubes and more. Read on for more information.
