Parents who are planning to register their children for Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten (TK) in the Arcata School District (for the 2019-20 school year) are invited to attend our parent meeting on Tuesday, November 27, 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

The meeting will cover:
• District Overview
• Enrollment Procedures
• What to expect from Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten
• Interdistrict Transfers

Our Special Education teachers are patient, organized, creative, caring, and always willing to help. Thank you for all that you do!

Mrs. Adams' student art is now being displayed in the school office. The students created portraits of their pumpkins from the Co-op pumpkin patch using oil pastels and watercolors. The finished art pieces are beautiful! You can check out other student art in Event Photos on our website.

All of our teachers work hard every day when students are here and long after they've gone. Teachers are an inquisitive bunch, always looking to improve their skills and learn more. This week we are recognizing seven of our stellar teachers - Mrs. Kinyon, Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Desch, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Hurst, Ms. Reis, and Ms. Mapes. The group has created a book club and they are reading Culturize by author and education leader Jimmy Casas. The book shares insights into what it takes to cultivate a community of learners who embody the innately human traits our world desperately needs, such as kindness, honesty, and compassion.

Ms. Hayes' project, Wiggle Wonderland, was funded by DonorsChoose! DonorsChoose is a fabulous program that supports teachers through crowd funding. Congratulations Ms. Hayes!

This morning the students enjoyed a puppet show by the Quack and Wabbit Puppet Theatre. Tanya Crowley and Yumi Ozaki, program directors and performers, were amazing and the shows promote a positive difference in the lives of children by teaching valuable life skills through the art of puppetry. Coach Rudy has completed basketball tryout and the team will start practicing next week. Congratulations to our new players! The game schedule will be posted soon and we encourage everyone to come cheer for the Bobcats.
