Arcata Elementary will be hosting a Special Beginnings playgroup on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 11:30 am starting on September 25th. Special Beginnings is a Humboldt County Office of Education program for children with special needs ages 3 - 5.

Each morning Karri is cooking breakfast for our students. Breakfast is an important way to start the day and many of our students meet in the cafeteria to enjoy breakfast today.

October 10th is International Walk and Bike to School Day. We meet at Murphy's on Alliance at 7:40 am and start walking or biking at 7:50 am. It's a great way to start the day!

Thanks to a generous donation by the K-Kids, we are starting of the school year with a brand-new set of tetherballs. The K-Kids raised money throughout the last school year by hosting Family Movie Night.

Our school has a free library in the main hallway with many, many fabulous books. Stop by and check out the selection! Students can take home 3 books each day.

Join us for the first PTO meeting of the school year. We meet at AES in the staff lounge on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm.

Tuesday, September 11th is School Picture Day. Our students' photos are taken by a local photographer, Matthew Morgan, in our fabulous school garden.

We now have hooks for wayward jackets, hoodies, hats, and lunch boxes. To help clothing and other items find their way back to your home please put your child's name in everything. We also have a Lost and Found rack in the cafeteria. Unclaimed items are donated at the end of each month.

Our school year begins on Tuesday, August 28th. The school opens at 8:00 am, classrooms open at 8:10am, and classes begin at 8:30 am. Breakfast is served from 8:00 am - 8:25 am.
