The 5th Grade Send Off celebration will be held on Thursday, June 13, 9:30 - 11:00 am. The event will begin in our school multipurpose room (MPR) for the certificates and then move to the garden for refreshments.

School Lunch Hero Day is this Friday, May 3rd. We have an amazing staff at our site - Julie and Michelle - as well as a group of dedicated employees at Sunny Brae.

The Mobile Dental Van through Open Door Community Health Centers has been operating for over 20 years, bringing much needed dental care to Humboldt’s pediatric population. By partnering with Arcata Elementary School, they bring the care to you!

Testing dates for grades 3 - 5:
Third grade: April 29 - May 10
Fourth Grade: May 13 - 17
Fifth Grade: May 20 - 24

This month the students will be taking the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment (SBAC). The SBAC is an assessment to measure growth and achievement. The computerized test is adaptive and measures students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The students will take a computer
adapted test (CAT) and performance task (PT), for English-language arts (ELA), and mathematics.
Parents can help prepare their children for testing by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a nutritious snack.
